PRESS RELEASE FOR SEMINAR ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE RELATED TO INVESTMENT AND TRADE

On 17 and 18 March 2025, the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) Sarawak, in collaboration with the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), conducted a Seminar on Government Assistance Related to Investment and Trade in Kuching.  The seminar drew 160 participants from diverse business backgrounds who actively engaged in the session.    During the seminar, participants were provided with a comprehensive briefing on various government grants and incentives designed to promote business growth, innovation, and international trade.

Representatives from MIDA and MATRADE shared valuable insights on how businesses can access financial assistance for research and development, export expansion, and capital investment.  MIDA shared with the participants, among others, investment incentives and grants offered by MIDA, as well as guidelines on the application of manufacturing license, customs duty exemptions, and expatriate positions.  MATRADE outlined its primary functions, which include export promotion, exporter development, trade and market intelligence, and trade consulting services.  MATRADE also encouraged all participants to become members to avail themselves of the benefits provided by MATRADE.

Participants to the Seminar benefited from the knowledge on the available assistance and funding options not only for investment and business expansion, but also for new technology adoption.  In addition, the Seminar also provided opportunities for direct engagement with MIDA and MATRADE representatives, allowing businesses to seek clarification on related matters, explore eligibility criteria, and understand the application processes.

The event also facilitated networking opportunities, where attendees were able to connect with industry peers, potential partners, and key decision-makers from both local and international trade sectors. MATRADE's involvement further highlighted opportunities for businesses to strengthen their global presence, offering tailored advice on navigating export channels and pursuing international growth.
