OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRADE AND INVESTMENT WITH FRANCE

6 May 2025: Tuesday (Paris) – Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Sarawak, Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development was briefed by Ms Zuhaila Sedek, Economic Counselor and Trade Commissioner, MATRADE Paris on the trade and investment scenario in France during this official visit to Paris, France,  France presents opportunities for Malaysia, including Sarawak to leverage on the opportunities presented by France as the gateway to Europe.
 



MATRADE Paris has been facilitating many Malaysian businesses and exporters, including from Sarawak to expand their businesses to the region.  These include handicrafts from Sarawak which is fashion item.

 


 

At the same event, Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar  Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier Sarawak witnessed a Memorandum of Understanding signing between Wireco Sdn. Bhd. from Sarawak and Blumorpho of France on collaboration to establish strategic and financial partnerships at scaling the adoption of WASTENOT’s food waste management technology across key markets. This collaboration will promote the development of financial collaboration models, engagement with industrial and institutional stakeholders, and the pursuit of French, European and international support mechanisms dedicated to advancing sustainable technologies and support the transition to a circular economy and enable access to the carbon credit market.
Also in the Sarawak delegation were Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Malcolm Mussen Lamoh (Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment), YBhg. Dato Sri Haji Mohd. Naroden bin Haji Majais (Advisor, MINTRED), Mr Dzulkornain Masron (Permanent Secretary, MINTRED), Datu Haji Abdullah bin Julaihi (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development), Datu Lester Matthew (Director, Economic Planning Unit, Department of the Premier of Sarawak), Ms. Priscilla Ann Yap (Counsellor, Embassy of Malaysia), Ms. Zuhaila Sedek (Trade Commissioner, MATRADE Paris), Mr. Timothy Ong (CEO, InvestSarawak) and other senior officials from the Government.
